My ancestor was Colin McLelland born about 1735 in British Islands. He was the first Mohawk Indians Schoolmaster at Ft Hunter, New York. I found in an obituary of a descendant that he was supposively an officer in the British army that came to America during the French Indian war, was wounded, and received a pension. I have been trying for many years to find evidence of this. I have found his name in the Sir William Johnson papers about 18 times, but nothing on his British Army experience. Can you help me in that area?
How did you find out about this project?
